Incredibly Late Birthday Post

I know I know, bad bad blogger lady!! I even skipped the 10 month and 11 month pictures and updates on Maci. I also didn’t get any pictures or posts up about her 1st Thanksgiving. I honestly think I was trying to slow time down a little....survey says.......It didn’t work.

December was a whirl-wind of her birthday and Christmas. It all came and went so fast, and left me dizzy in the process. Not to mention I had been sick with some sort of HORRIBLE cold for nearly 3 weeks (along with everyone else in my immediate and extended family, and Maci going from cold to ear infection back to cold again during those 3 weeks) and then Maci got a Stomach Virus 3 days before Christmas, followed by me catching it 2 days before Christmas and then Bill having it on Christmas Eve to top it all off....come to think of it that might have been part of the dizziness....

I digress....

December 17th was her actual birthday, and I took the day off to spend with my baby girl, and love her and hug her and sing to her and just enjoy her day...oh yeah, and take her to the doctor to get shots...OUCH!!! Horrible Horrible shots....One year shots were the worst yet, she still has a bruise on her leg. She weighed in at 21 lbs and 10 oz and 31 ½ “ long....a far cry from the 7 lbs. 13 oz. 20” itty bitty baby that she was 1 year ago.

She has been around the 95th percentile pretty much since her first check up, needless to say she is a big girl. She had 9 teeth by her first birthday (now she has 11). She started taking 2-3 steps without holding on to anything the week of her birthday, and then the next week of Christmas she was taking 8-10 steps at a time, and able to stand up from the floor without pulling up on anything. Her preferred method is still crawling because it gets her there faster...but if there is an audience, she loves to stand up, clap for herself, take off in a “run” and fall flat on her face into someone’s arms, then say “yay” and clap for herself again. She has a large vocabulary I can’t even think of all the words she knows at this point. She is putting sentences like “daddy I love you” together (sometimes without being prompted). She can tell you the duck sound, the dog sound, and the cat sound without being told what they are...and can repeat any other sound you ask her to say. She says “No” A LOT....to ANY question you ask her and it’s pretty funny. She cracks me up with the faces she makes, especially the “stink eye”.

She is still pretty much happy all of the time. She loves bows and wants one in her hair every day...she doesn’t leave them there...but she wants one...and wants for you to tell her she is “soooo pretty” then she squenches her nose, smiles and pats her hair...and promptly rips out the pretty bow. She also LOVES shoes, not wearing them necessarily but trying them on...she made her daddy put her black patton leather dress shoes on her last night more times than I can count...she would stand up in them...smile...sit back down...pull them off...hand them back to Bill for him to put them on her again...this went on until we finally put the shoes out of site.

December 18th was the day of her party, and we had it at a place here called “The Play Place” and I must admit I wish that place had been my idea. It’s just a giant play room, with toys and built in play houses, and dress up, and train sets and just a giant room of play things for children, with a birthday area in the back complete with tiny wooden tables. When you reserve it, you are reserving the whole place for the party, no one is there except you and your guests. It was a lot of fun.

Here are a few pictures from the festivities (there are more, but are now lost somewhere in my computer)....

....post to follow on Christmas...What a procrastinator I have turned out to be....I am a little disappointed in myself.

Dear Maci - 9 Months Old

Dear Maci,

You are 9 months old today! Time is passing us by entirely too quick. I am amazed with all the new things you are learning, and what a strong little personality you have. You are still so happy most of the time, but you have learned how to throw quite the little fit when you aren’t happy. You HATE to lay down for pretty much any reason now that you have learned how to sit up on your own. It’s a little bit of an ordeal to change your diaper, or lay you down in the bath tub to rinse your hair. You love to sing “Itsy Bitsy Spider” even if your words don’t sound quite right. You even try to do the motions with your hands, you put your fingers together for spider and then you wave your hands out for “wash the spider out” you even raise them about your head for “out comes the sun.” You are eating about 6 oz of formula every 4 hours 4 to 5 times a day. You are starting to boycott baby food though, you will still eat it some, but for the most part you want what everybody else is eating. You weighed 20 lbs and 8 oz. at your doctor visit and are 29 ½ inches long. You are in the 95th percentile for height and 80th percentile on your weight. You love to play with your toys. You to be read to you and can even turn the pages. You are so curious, and love to try to figure things out, you try to put things together that go together, you try to figure out where thing are when we hide them from you and you love to find anything new that makes noise (like the door stops on the baseboards). You are pulling up and crawling like a champ. You are growing up so fast, and we are so blessed that Jesus chose us to be your mommy and daddy.

We love you baby girl, Happy 9 month birthday!!

Dear Maci - 8 months

Dear Maci,

You are 8 months old today. You are sitting up by yourself, and pulling up in your crib and on our hands. You are also getting on your hands and knees and rocking, I bet you will be crawling any day now.  You are such a big girl. You are eating 2 tbs. oatmeal cereal with a stage 1 jar of fruit for breakfast, and (2) jars of stage 2 baby food at lunch and dinner. You are taking about 5 oz of formula every 4 hours, and about 3 oz at bedtime.  You usually go to sleep around 8:30 and sleep until around 6:30 or 7:00 (with a few cries for mommy and daddy in between).  You love to laugh, and are the funniest happy baby I have ever seen. You LOVE to have your picture made, whenever I get the camera out you start bouncing and laughing and make the silliest faces ever. You love your glo worm and give it kisses when it sings and lights up. You give hugs and kisses now. You can play patty-cake when someone starts saying the rhyme and clap when you are excited. You also wave “bye bye.” You can say your da, ba, ma sounds now. You love to watch Sprout, and Nina and Star are your favorite. You love it when Mommy sings to you and when Daddy tickles you and plays with your toys with you. You are always smiling. We love you very much, and can’t wait to see what you will do next.

We love you sweet baby girl....happy 8 month birthday!!

Dear Maci 7 Months

Dear Maci,

Today you are 7 months old.  You are getting so big.  Sitting up all by yourself without support.  You have 2 bottom teeth, and the top right one just broke the skin today.  You love to play on the floor, and with Harvest.  You like to play in your jump-a-roo when you are watching Sprout on TV.  You are coming in to you own personality.  You are just the happiest baby I have ever seen.  You are drinking about 6 oz every 4 hours and you are eating your baby food much better, 1 ½ to 2 jars for lunch and for dinner.  You LOVE oatmeal mixed with prunes for breakfast.  Your favorite song is Twinkle Twikle little star, and you have started waving “bye bye”  you can say da da da da and ga ga ga ga ga.  You usually go to sleep at 8:30 and sleep until 6:00.  Sometimes on Saturday mornings if I put you in the bed with daddy and me you will sleep until 7:00.  Daddy and I love you so much!!

Dear Maci - 6 Months (4 days late)

I know, I should be ashamed for letting the blog go this long without updating, things have been a whirl-wind for me these days, but thats a post for another day.  Today is all about my beautiful baby girl, who is now SIX months old, I can't believe it!!!

Dear Maci,

You are 6 months old today. You had your shots and you were such a big girl, you only cried for a minute. You are drinking juice out of a sippy cup now (a nubby) if someone holds it for you. You haven’t quite gotten the hang of holding the handles just yet, but you love to play with it while sitting in your new highchair that your daddy brought home and surprised us with. You are drinking around 5 to 6 ounces every 4 hours, and eating 1 ½ to 2 jars of baby food twice a day (most of the time). You just moved up to the stage 2 foods this week. Your favorite so far is Corn and Sweet Potatoes and Hawaiian Delight. You usually take your last bottle around 7:00 and go to bed around 9:00. You are sleeping much better now; you usually sleep until 6:00am.

You had your first fever this month too, it stayed around 102 and 103 for 5 whole days. You were sick the whole time Aunt Connie was here visiting. I had to take you to the doctor and they stuck your finger. I cried a little, and you cried A LOT. You really felt bad.

You can sit up by yourself unsupported for about 2-3 minutes at a time, and you love to play in your bounce-a-roo. You like to bang your toys on things, and you are putting everything you can in your mouth. You are now giving kisses intentionally and you are hugging mommy and daddy with one arm. You even grabbed mommy and daddy’s neck at the same time the other night when daddy was holding you. You can play patty-cake on my hand when I start saying the rhyme. You are reaching, and rolling over both ways, and holding your head up so well now. You are getting to be such a big girl. I can’t believe all the things you are doing.

Daddy and I love you so much. Happy 6 month ( ½ year) birthday baby girl!!!!

Dear Maci - 5 Months

Dear Maci,

You are 5 months old today. You are growing so fast. You weighed 17.5 lbs, at your last doctor’s appointment (for an ear infection). You are eating about 5 ounces around every 3 – 4 hours. You love your baby food now, squash and bananas are your favorites. You hate sweet peas. You love bath time; you splash and laugh, and love for Mommy to sing to you. Your favorite song is twinkle twinkle. You love to play in your jump-a-roo that Aunt Cole gave you last week. It’s so much fun to watch you bounce and play and laugh. We love you so much more everyday. We love to watch you grow and learn, and to see what new thing you will do next. You are learning to make new noises, you have a very high pitched squeal, and a low tone growl that you are showing us this week. It’s so funny. Mommy and Daddy love you so much.

Happy 5 month birthday baby girl, we love you!!!

Dear Maci - 4 Months

Dear Maci,

You are 4 months old today.  You are able to sit supported now, and you are holding your head up like a big girl.  You have almost rolled over several times, but haven't made that final push yet.  You can scoot around in a small area on your back, and you still hate to lay on your tummy.  We go to the doctor Monday to see how much weight you have gained and how long you are now.  I am sure you have grown a lot.  You are in 6 month clothes now, and you are growing like a weed. You still only drink around 5 oz. of formula every 3 hours.  We have tried to feed  you cereal a few times, and you are not a big fan.  You will eat a few bites without fussing, but mostly you give me dirty looks, like you are wondering what in the world I am putting in your mouth. We will start you on baby food and a little juice after your doctor's appointment Monday.  You are mostly sleeping through the night now, with a few exceptions.  You have more and more facial expressions and your happy little personality is really showing.  You are such a good baby, you never fuss unless you are hungry (or sometimes sleepy).  You love to be held, and you love to "talk" you will "ooh" and "ahhh" and "ouuuu" over and over, it even seems like you know what you are saying.  You seem to know people now, and react to them. You even have started reaching a little for your daddy (and only your daddy).  Usually when you are laying on the changing table and daddy walks by you will reach out for him to pick you up.  You are growing so fast and we love you more with ever day.

Happy 4 month birthday Maci, we love you!!

Dear Maci - 3 Months

Dear Maci,

You are 3 months old today and you are growing so fast. Daddy and I are more in love with you every day. You are smiling more, and even laughing out loud a little.

You are more vocal especially with your daddy; you are definitely a daddy’s girl.

You love your play mat and enjoy grabbing at your toys, you can even hold on to them every now and then.

You love to be held and to cuddle.

You really like bath time, most nights. You don’t like tummy time very much. You really like being rocked and love to talk to daddy’s deer on the wall. You will turn your neck as far around as you can get it just to see the television if it is on.

We love watching your personality develop. You are such a happy baby; you rarely fuss, or cry unless you are hungry or need a new diaper. You are sleeping through the night, most nights anyway.

Your feeding schedule is a 5oz bottle around 5:30am, 8:30am, 11:30am, 3:00pm, 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Daddy rocks you to sleep nearly every night and we put you in bed around 10:30 pm. You are growing out of your clothes before you get a chance to wear them all. You weigh approximately 13 lbs. now (on our scales at home, not the doctor scales). You are much longer too, although until your appointment next month we won’t know how much.

Happy 3 Month Birthday sweet girl, we love you SOOOOO much!!

Dear Maci - 2 Months

Dear Maci,

You are two months old today! Daddy and I can’t believe how big you are. You are already holding your head up really well, and are in the 75th percentile for baby girls your age. You are smiling more and more every day, and you are reactive smiling to familiar people and voices. Most of the time you can mimic Mommy; when I stick my tongue out at you, you will stick yours riht back out at me...or atleast try really hard. You will coo at us and make noises when you are in a good mood. You are happiest on your changing table, wearing only your diaper. We call that the happy table. You are mostly eating 4oz. of formula at a time now. You are also sleeping a little more at night. Your last bottle is around 9:00pm and I put you to bed around 10:00pm and most of the time you will sleep until around 2:30am before needing to eat again, but you usually go right back to sleep afterwards. Daddy and I love you more every day and are so happy that God chose to bless our lives with you.

Happy 2 month Birthday Maci, we love you so much!!
