Life Lessons

A father is standing in the kitchen with his daughter, who has just asked to go on a date with a less than desirable young man. The young girl is a good girl, she makes good grades, she obeys her parents, she would never consider drinking, smoking, or doing drugs. The young man is the complete opposite, he is a rebel, and is always in trouble. She thinks she can be a good influence on him, she thinks she can change him. She KNOWS he won’t be able to change her.

The father looks at the daughter and tells her to stand in the kitchen chair. The daughter looks at her father in confusion, but does what he asks. The father then tells the girl, “you are up there, he is down here...Now, pull me up where you are in the chair.” The daughter tries and tries and finally the father stops her and says “you can’t do it can you?” “Not unless I WANT to get in the chair where you are and not unless I WANT you to help me up.” “I have to make an effort to get in the chair myself.” She agrees. Then the father says, watch this...and pulls the daughter right off of the chair on to the floor...level with him. The father looks at his daughter and says “see how easy that was?”

How Great is our God...(update on "the other" Heather)

This mother....

....was pregnant with twins that were diagnosed with Twin to Twin Transfusion

....was told most babies that have this problem do not survive

.....had 3 choices, abort the smaller twin so the larger might live, leave things “as is” and both would probably die, or have a surgery while pregnant that may not be successful

....chose surgery and life

....was then hospitalized at 24 weeks with early labor

These babies ...

...were given a slim chance of survival

...one showed signs of heart failure in the womb

...were born at 28 weeks

...each weighed only 2 lbs. 5 oz. when born

...were in the NICU

...had feeding tubes

...one had an infection, stopped breathing, and had to be resuscitated

...were not due until April 14, 2010

...ARE 8 weeks old

...ARE beautiful

...ARE ALREADY HOME!!!!!

PRAISE GOD!!! HE IS SO GOOD!!!

Dear Maci - 3 Months

Dear Maci,

You are 3 months old today and you are growing so fast. Daddy and I are more in love with you every day. You are smiling more, and even laughing out loud a little.

 You are more vocal especially with your daddy; you are definitely a daddy’s girl.

You love your play mat and enjoy grabbing at your toys, you can even hold on to them every now and then.

 You love to be held and to cuddle.

 You really like bath time, most nights. You don’t like tummy time very much. You really like being rocked and love to talk to daddy’s deer on the wall. You will turn your neck as far around as you can get it just to see the television if it is on.

 We love watching your personality develop. You are such a happy baby; you rarely fuss, or cry unless you are hungry or need a new diaper. You are sleeping through the night, most nights anyway.

Your feeding schedule is a 5oz bottle around 5:30am, 8:30am, 11:30am, 3:00pm, 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Daddy rocks you to sleep nearly every night and we put you in bed around 10:30 pm. You are growing out of your clothes before you get a chance to wear them all. You weigh approximately 13 lbs. now (on our scales at home, not the doctor scales). You are much longer too, although until your appointment next month we won’t know how much.

Opinions Needed Please

When did you start your baby on rice cereal from a spoon?? The sheet from my pedi's office says 3 1/2 to 4 months. 

When did you start baby food??  The sheet from my pedi's office says 5 months.

Did you start with Veggies and go in a certain order?? Like, Carrots, Squash, Green Beans, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes.

When did you start giving your baby fruit?? and is there an order for that??

What are the benefits of making your own baby food vs. buying jars at the store?? You know besides the obvious cost savings!! 

I am getting a bit anxious to start feeding Maci from a spoon because I have just heard so many different ways that you HAVE to do it.  It's all a bit confusing.  I do need to start thinking about it though, my sweet baby is getting to be a big girl and will be 3 months old next week {Tear}!

I would really value your opinions!

Not Going Private...

.....Yet....but I reserve the right to change my mind. 

I have several friends and family members without blogs or google accounts that read my blog, and I just want to keep it as easy as possible for them to access it.  If I feel the need to change that in the future, you all will be the first to know!  Thanks for reading!!

Private vs. Public Blog

I am getting a little parinoid about my blog being public.  If I were to decide to make my blog private how many of you would like to be added to my list of approved readers?  I am not sure who is actually reading my blog because I only get comments from 2 or 3 people.  However, I think several personal friends may be reading and not commenting (they do not have blogs of their own). I don't know how that works.  If I make my blog private and several people reading that don't have blogs, will they still be allowed to read my blog if I invite them via their e-mail address??  I am just looking for some feedback on what I should do.  Now that Maci is here, I am getting more and more parinoid about who I let into my world.  There are several of you that I really enjoy reading and commenting on your blogs and I enjoy you commenting on mine, I have even formed friendships via e-mail with some of you and I don't want to loose that aspect.  I also want my family to be safe and don't want to let just anyone into my world.

 Just wondering what you guys think...

I love this face...

I have been trying to figure it out why for a little while now and I finally found the answer....

It's the first face she made that I fell in love with...

  I knew I loved this face from the first time I saw it... 

It's amazing what they can do with technology!! 

 If you are preggers, I HIGHLY suggest spending the money to have a 4-D sonogram.
